Children’s Ministry Today Is Promotion Sunday For Children’s Sunday School! Children who are 2 years old by Oct 1, 2008 will begin Sunday School. Nursery 2 through 4th graders move ‘up’ one class. New 6th Graders will meet in the Youth Office. Sunday School is at the 9:40 hour, with Childcare provided at 8:20 and 11:05 for children Kindergarten age and younger until September. Children’s Summer Sunday School is at the 9:40 hour for children, ages 2 – 5th Grade. Childcare will be available at 8:15 and 11:05 for children Kindergarten age and under. Beach Party: Surfin’ the Scriptures Vacation Bible School registration for July 14-18, 6-8pm is available online or at the TRAILhead (Children’s desk). Cost is $25/ per child. Deadline to register is tomorrow, July 7. Mandatory Safe Sanctuary Training is Monday, July 7 at 6:30pm and Sunday, July 13 at 10:50-11:30. This one-day session is mandatory for all Children Ministries Leaders for Vacation Bible School, Music Camp, Sunday morning leaders and those volunteering with Interfaith Hospitality Network. Vacation Bible School Training is tomorrow, Monday, July 7, from 7-9pm in room 149-151 for all July session leaders. Communion Servers are needed for next Sunday’s service. See the Sign-me-up Insert. Recently, because of some scheduling conflicts, a table has opened up at the Revs.’ (Cindy & Jerry) Garden of Edam Backyard Party on Friday evening, July 11 at Cindy’s home. We are opening up a table for four to go to the highest bidder. The event will consist of cheese and appropriate beverage pairings. Host Homes Needed for the Starfire Singers Youth Choir of Los Altos United Methodist Church in California. Los Altos UMC hosted our Holy Pretzels on their tour and they are heading here at the end of July for their tour. They will perform a musical at St. Andrew on Tuesday, July 29 called "The Studio." We are looking for people to host their 75 high school youth on that Tuesday evening. Please call Shani Jones, 303-794-2683 x156, if you can host 2 or more youth. Music Camp Registration continues for grades 3rd – 6th grade through July 10. Classes for grades K–2 are filled but openings remain for 3rd-5th graders. Music camp is Jul 28-Aug 1st. The labyrinth will be available for individual meditation and prayer from 4–8pm, Thu, Jul. 10 (2nd Thursdays). Position Open: Applications are being accepted for the assistant youth director position at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, effective Sep 1. Full-time position working with youth director and administrative assistant to plan and implement youth programming, including but not limited to, Sunday school, youth group, Confirmation, retreats, Bible studies, meal fellowship groups, mission trips, service projects, and development of curriculum and volunteers. Experience with youth in a church setting desirable; excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills necessary; bachelor’s degree in related field a plus. This scripturally-based 30-week class, formatted similarly to the Disciple Bible Study series, is an opportunity to discuss the social concerns of our time and discern our response to them. Great for post-Disciple graduates, but open to all. Female Role Overload and the Quest for Balance: Biblical Perspectives on Women Who Do Too Much; Sundays, July 13-Aug 3, 9:40 am. Join Dr. Marianne Neifert for this Biblically-based series which reminds busy women that God understands their unique stressors and cares deeply about female overload. CONGREGATIONAL CARE AARP Driver Safety Program - The next session will be taught at St. Andrew Thursday & Friday, July 10 and July 11, 9am-1pm each day. The Building team will build a home for a family that was previously living in a home made of cardboard, wooden pallets and anything else they can find. The Medical team will be working at a small clinic, which is the only medical care in the area. This clinic is not always staffed, and it is not unusual to have two hundred people waiting in line to receive care. Don’t miss this special summer youth Sunday school hour at 9:40 am for middle school and high school youth. Gabbin’ About God 101 – intro to youth Sunday school for new 6th graders meets in the youth offices each Sunday in July at 9:40 am. Sunday Nights About Phaith beach party in the youth parking lot with Nathan and Dona 6-8 pm tonight. Bring your beach balls, Frisbees and appropriate music. Snacks provided. Volleyball leaves Tuesday at 6:30 pm from the church parking lot to a park near Littleton UMC. Bring $$ for ice cream; back at 9 pm. Wednesday fun – Nathan’s in charge! Play at the park 10-11 a.m., followed by out-to-lunch time, and/or visit the World Vision exhibit and grab dinner together 4-6 pm.
