Study Questions – Chapter #10

  1. There is a bumper sticker that says: IF YOU FEEL DISTANT FROM GOD, GUESS WHO MOVED? What do you think this might have to do with the topic of the importance of faithfully practicing the Christian disciplines of prayer, study, worship, generosity, service, compassion and justice?

  2. Why do we need to practice our Christian faith daily?

  3. Why do we need to be worshiping with other Christians on a regular basis?

  4. Borg says, “If the Christian life is about relationship and transformation, then practice, a time of intimacy with God, will be central.” If you believe this fully, what will you do differently?

  5. Why do we need to pray?

  6. How might your life be different if you spent 40 minutes of each day in prayer?

  7. Why are you a Christian

  8. Should Christians attempt to convert people of other faiths or leave them alone?

  9. What does this statement mean to you: “God is defined by Jesus but God is not confined to Jesus.” How does the argument from Paul in Romans 1:19-21 relate to this statement?
