Job Title:        Servant Ministries Director                    Effective Date:  May 14, 2008

Supervisor:     Executive Director                                Status:  Full Time, Salaried, Exempt

Position Purpose:  To support the vision and mission of St. Andrew United Methodist Church (SAUMC) to invite, receive, nurture, challenge and send forth committed Christian disciples by engaging, encouraging, energizing, empowering and equipping Christian Disciples to serve.  Serve as the Staff Liaison for the Servant Ministry Team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate the development of the systems and processes necessary to match individual’s interests, gifts, abilities and passions with appropriate and meaningful ministry opportunities.

  • Identify, publicize and promote servant ministry opportunities in all ministry areas.

  • Develop and maintain a computerized data base and web interface.

  • Develop procedures to match and place persons in ministry.

  • Initiate servant ministry descriptions, training and recognition program for those serving.

  • Serve as the servant ministry contact person to the church staff and laity.

  • Develop annual budget, goals, action plans.

  • Participate as a team member of staff, including attending staff meetings and regularly attending worship.

  • Support the Servant Ministries MALT and Lay Leadership Committee

Job Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Strong organizational and planning skills.

  • Self motivated, goal oriented, outgoing, resourceful and having the ability to work with little direct supervision.

  • Good knowledge of self, including personal and spiritual gifts.

  • Good computer knowledge with experience with data bases preferred.

  • Leadership skills that embrace team-based ministry, strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.

  • Commitment to the values, mission and vision of SAUMC. Experience in working with, teaching, training and motivating volunteers. 

  • Flexibility to work beyond traditional office hours and on weekends.
